Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh the instrument is a Rent Agreement (Lease Deed), the parties are called Lessor and Lessee, and the tenancy is read against the AP Buildings (Lease, Rent and Eviction) Control Act, 1960.
How the cost is worked out
For a lease of up to 5 years, stamp duty is 0.5% of (total rent for the term + the security deposit).
Minimum stamp duty: ₹100

- Generate the e-challan on the AP Registration portal before the date of execution.
- Two witnesses carrying photo identity proof must attend the Sub-Registrar Office.
- Deposits of 2 to 3 months of rent are the norm outside the metro pockets.
